Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Makes Huge ICC Rankings Leap
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, an Indian batting wonder, has made an impressive start to his international career, rising significantly in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings following his spectacular efforts against Zimbabwe.
The 15-year-old prodigy was named Player of the Series during India’s clean sweep in Harare, scoring 151 runs in three matches with an outstanding average of 50.33.
Vaibhav outstanding exploits have earned him 536 rating points, propelling him up 230 places to a career-high 48th position in the T20I batting rankings.
The left-handed batter made his international debut with a stunning 81 in the series, demonstrating his bold stroke play and poise despite his young age.
India continues to dominate the T20I batting rankings, with Ishan Kishan remaining at number one. Following the Zimbabwe series, Kishan now has 910 rating points, a substantial lead over Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan, who has 848 points.
Kishan had previously set a career high of 916 points, the third-highest batting rating in T20I history. Only Abhishek Sharma (931) and England’s Dawid Malan (919) have received higher marks in this style.
Several more Indian players made big gains in the recent rankings. Tilak Varma rose to sixth place among T20I batters, while Shreyas Iyer improved to 24th following a string of strong outings. Ravi Bishnoi, a leg-spinner, also improved, moving up to 41st in the T20I bowling rankings.
Despite losing the series, Zimbabwe had a few positives. Ryan Burl moved up six places to joint 85th in the T20I batting rankings, while fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani advanced ten places to 26th.
Shubman Gill recaptured the top ODI batting slot, succeeding New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell, who had held the position since January. Namibia spinner Bernard Scholtz also made significant progress, rising five places to seventh in the ODI bowling rankings following strong performances in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series in Utrecht against Nepal and the Netherlands.
The most recent Test rankings also saw several changes. West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves gained 21 places to 48th among Test bowlers and rose to ninth in the all-rounders’ rankings after producing five consecutive wicket maidens.
Jayden Seales of the West Indies moved up five spots to 24th in the bowling rankings, while Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas surged nine places to 17th. Pakistan’s Babar Azam rose four positions to 15th among Test hitters after scoring his 32nd half-century.
