Langer Misses Out On England Test Coach Talks
In a development that appears to eliminate him from the competition for the position of England’s Test coach, Justin Langer has verified that he has not “heard from anyone” at the ECB.
Since Brendon McCullum was relinquished of his responsibilities with England’s Test team earlier this month, Langer, who coached Australia from 2018-22, has been frequently mentioned as a potential candidate for the position.
Additionally, he has maintained a cordial relationship with Richard Gould, the chief executive of the ECB, since their tenures as Somerset’s captain and CEO in the late 2000s.
However, Rob Key, England’s managing director, has been in contact with numerous candidates in recent weeks, and Langer has disclosed that he is not one of them.When asked if he had been contacted by anyone at the ECB, Langer responded, “No, I haven’t, no.”

Langer is currently coaching in the Hundred in the United Kingdom.
Earlier this month, Andy Flower, the initial front-runner for the position, declared himself out of the running, stating that he was “extremely satisfied” with his current responsibilities at Royal Challengers Bengaluru and London Spirit.
Langer anticipated that the individual in charge would experience “teething issues” while collaborating with McCullum, who will remain as the white-ball coach as England transitions to a split-coaching structure.
He also emphasised the importance of employing “the right people” in their support staff.When requested to speculate on the potential candidate for the position, he responded, “I have no idea.”
