Shoaib Akhtar Takes Aim At Babar Azam’s Leadership And Impact

Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has criticised Babar Azam, claiming that despite his lack of success for Pakistan, the top batsman is usually referred to as a superstar. Given that he was regarded the foundation of the batting lineup, Babar’s extended slump had a significant impact on the team’s performance.

Shoaib Akhtar believes the 31-year-old must continue to deliver game-winning performances, despite recent indicators that he is recovering his form.

“You have made a superstar out of a player who cannot win a game,” Shoaib Akhtar told Indian television channel ABP, as reported by NDTV.

The former spinner believes that Pakistan’s top batter should take on more responsibility and lead the team to more victories in crucial matches.

Babar recently scored 115 runs at an average of 57.50 while representing Pakistan in a two-Test series against Bangladesh. His highest score was 68. Following that, he appeared in the ODI series against Australia, making 125 runs in three games at an average of 41.66, including a top score of 69.

The Pakistan skipper will lead the two-Test series against the West Indies, which will be played in Trinidad and Tobago from July 25 to August 6. Following the Caribbean tour, Pakistan will face England in a three-match Test series from August 19 to September 13. Babar is expected to be a crucial player as the team’s captain and greatest hitter.
