Dinda Reacts To Rohit Sharma’s Position In Team India
Former fast bowler Ashok Dinda has expressed how important Rohit Sharma is to India’s One Day International (ODI) squad. This is consistent with speculations that the former captain was slated to play his final match for the Men in Blue at Lord’s in the third ODI against England.
Reports about Rohit’s likely retirement from international cricket began to surface during the second game of the three-game series. The suspicions were fuelled by the right-handed batter’s poor performance in the ODI series against England, as well as his prior troubles, which included 241 runs in eight games in 2026.
Dinda, who revealed his deep affinity with the batter, has firmly placed himself in Rohit’s corner, despite his recent struggles. The former quick bowler praised the Mumbai Indians star, stating that his retirement will be a significant loss in Indian cricket.
We’ve played quite a few matches together, and we both began our careers for India around the same time. Since then, he has won many matches for India, established numerous records, earned the moniker ‘Hitman,’ and even won a World Cup.
He’s a legend. If he retires, I extend my heartfelt congratulations, but India will undoubtedly miss him. I had numerous memories with Rohit. We used to play PlayStation, go shopping, and eat supper together.
“I even danced at his wedding,” Ashok Dinda told the reporters.
According to Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rohit Sharma is still a part of India’s immediate future, despite media speculation over his retirement.
I want to be clear that there has been no speculation that Rohit will play his final match at Lord’s on Sunday. Rohit is a regular member of the Indian One-Day International team, and he will continue to represent his country as long as he is available. In other words, Lord’s ODI will not be his final match,” Saikia stated.
