Speculation about Rohit Sharma‘s future in international cricket has dominated recent headlines. Several speculations suggested that the IND versus ENG ODI series could be the former Indian captain’s farewell appearance in international cricket.
However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has categorically denied those allegations. Earlier, BCCI president Devajit Saikia denied Rohit Sharma’s retirement rumours, stating that the Lord’s ODI was not his final match for India.
Now, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has backed the seasoned batter, adding that there is no question about his retirement.
Rajeev Shukla spoke to reporters and denied all conjecture over Rohit Sharma’s future. The former Indian captain has stated that there are no plans to retire from international cricket, despite media and social media speculation.
Rohit Sharma is a member of our team and continues to play. The information published in the media and on social media is meaningless. As of now, there is no possibility of his retirement,” Shukla stated.
Shukla stated that there is no need for substantial changes as the team is currently performing effectively.Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the selectors decide who stays and who does not. The Indian squad is doing well and winning matches, so there is no need for any changes right now,” he remarked.
