Chase Stresses Value of Leading From the Front
In 59 contests, Roston Chase, the West Indies Test captain, has a batting average of 25.99. His average of 13.81 from six Tests in 2025 has significantly reduced it, despite the fact that it could have been slightly higher.

He is anticipated to provide the leadership for the West Indies in the Tests against Pakistan; however, it is uncertain whether he will be able to bowl.
“We’ll determine that when I arrive at the cricket ground tomorrow.” He stated, “At present, it is not entirely apparent; however, I bowled a few balls yesterday and am still experiencing a slight amount of discomfort.”
However, I believe that there is still some time before the first ball is bowled. Therefore, it is hoped that an improvement will be made by that time.
After seven losses and two draws, the West Indies secured their first victory in the ongoing WTC cycle with a victory in the first Test against Sri Lanka, which was also sufficient to secure the series.

The West Indies have reduced their squad from 16 for the series against Sri Lanka to 15 for the series against Pakistan. According to head coach Daren Sammy, Alzarri Joseph declined selection, Anderson Phillip was dismissed, and John Campbell is currently unavailable due to an injury.
In their stead, the West Indies have uncapped 26-year-old left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop and 25-year-old top-order batter Kirk McKenzie.
In the most recent West Indies (first-class) Championship, McKenzie, who played six Tests between 2023 and 2024, was the sixth-highest scorer with 323 runs in six innings, including two centuries for Jamaica. Bishop, on the other hand, was the fourth-highest wicket-taker with 16 strikes in six innings for Barbados.
“McKenzie has previously experienced international cricket; therefore, he is returning.” However, this will be Bishop’s inaugural event. Chase stated, “We are simply seeking to instill confidence in these players and provide them with support, as it is common to experience some initial nerves when entering a new arena and returning.”

Therefore, they must continue to develop and reinforce the confidence they acquired from those performances. Additionally, they should transport them to this location.
