On Day 3, Prasidh Krishna gave an outstanding bowling performance that piqued the interest of former India batsman Mohammad Kaif.
The second Test against Sri Lanka at Colombo began on Sunday, August 23, with India looking to win the series after defeating Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the first Test in Galle. India scored 503 for 9 in their first innings in Colombo.
Krishna took 3 for 47 in 14 overs, dismissing Lahiru Udara for one, Kamil Mishara for 19, and Kamindu Mendis for 32. His ability to generate pace and extra bounce helped India restrict Sri Lanka to 122 for four in 30 overs. Kaif assessed Krishna’s performance and immediately compared it to that of senior seam bowler Mohammed Siraj throughout the tour.

Despite the experience gap, Kaif believed Krishna had displayed superior form in various dimensions throughout the series.
Prasidh Krishna had already made an impression in the first Test, taking three wickets in each innings. His continuous success in the second Test highlighted his contribution to India’s bowling efforts throughout the series.
India is comfortably ahead at the end of Day 3, with Sri Lanka labouring at 265/8 in their first innings. The hosts are still 238 runs behind India’s first innings score, and their major goal will be to avoid a follow-on.
