Nat Sciver-Brunt Withdraws From WBBL 2026
Nat Sciver-Brunt will not participate in the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) season. Hobart Hurricanes head coach Jude Coleman stated that Sciver-Brunt, a key member of the reigning WBBL winners, had been ruled out of the entire competition.
Sciver-Brunt has been struggling with calf difficulties for a time, forcing her to play as England’s designated batter in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. She did not play in the recent India women’s tour of England, nor in the ongoing Hundred Women 2026 tournament.
Sciver-Brunt competes for the Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). She joined the Mumbai-based franchise, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, for a hefty INR 3.2 crore before the inaugural WPL season in 2023, and has been there ever since.
Coleman, the head coach of the Hobart Hurricanes, stated that Nat Sciver-Brunt must maintain full fitness during the WPL 2027 season, which is expected to begin in mid-January next year.
Coleman informed media in Hobart on Wednesday that Nat Sciver-Brunt will not participate in this year’s competition.
It is a disappointing loss for us, but we fully understand. She’s had a busy summer in England dealing with ailments. She’ll also have the WPL (Women’s Premier League) in January, so this is really her only opportunity to spend time at home with her son and wife.”
Meanwhile, WBBL 2026 will begin on October 29 with 38 T20 matches between eight teams. It will end on December 5.
How Has Nat Sciver-Brunt Fared in the WBBL?
Nat Sciver-Brunt, regarded as one of the best all-rounders in women’s cricket today, scored 205 runs in nine innings in the WBBL 2025. She also took six wickets in eight innings, where she had the ability to roll her arms, with an economy rate of 8.42.
