Jofra Archer Compares England Win to IPL

Jofra Archer compared the ease of batting in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to playing in English. This comes after India’s devastating 125-run defeat at Trent Bridge on Tuesday, July 7, in the third Twenty20 International against England.

When chasing 202 in the second inning, the Men in Blue attempted to play aggressively before recognising the circumstances and were hustled out for just 76. Archer claims that the conditions in the IPL are significantly better for hitters than those in England. The right-arm seamer claims that when bowlers play at home, they have more room for error, which occasionally offers them an advantage against batters.

“Here, things return to normal. You try to bowl straight and with decent length, but you have to be quite specific over there because the boundaries are so little and they make it so simple [for batters]. In contrast, Jofra Archer stated via Cricinfo, “I think your margin for error is a little bit higher here.

Jofra Archer also talked about the difference between games played in England and an ideal IPL total.

“At the IPL, sometimes 200 isn’t safe,” said the Sussex star, who was pleased with his team’s first-innings total of 201, which would have been easily chased down in the franchise event due to ideal conditions for the hitters. I don’t want to say [we were] confident with 200 on that track, but I think they would have needed a very great innings to lose the game. I’m just happy that everyone pitched in. I’m really happy to win because everyone who bowled today took wickets,” Jofra Archer continued.

India has to win the last two Twenty20 Internationals in order to square the five-match series with England 2-2. The Three Lions, on the other hand, have made an excellent start to their white-ball campaign despite losing the Test series to New Zealand.
