BCB to Enhance Security for India if Required
For India’s next visit of Bangladesh, the chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board‘s (BCB) security committee, Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed, has pledged to bolster security measures. He points out that although formal communication between the two cricket boards has not yet begun, the board will step up its efforts if necessary.
India’s visit was originally planned for September, but it was postponed last year due to the political circumstances between the two neighbouring countries. For several months, the Bangladesh Cricket Board-BCCI relationship has been severely strained by the absence of Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL. The board prioritised India’s upcoming tour and wrote to the BCCI in April in an attempt to improve tensions.
Every touring team, particularly the top cricketing nations, is constantly concerned about security. We haven’t formally begun speaking with them yet. If the tour goes as scheduled, we hope there won’t be any complaints,” Ibrahim stated, as reported by Cricbuzz.
BCB regarding security and tour planning in India
The official of the BCB was direct about the existing situation between the two boards.
“We are currently finalising the tour’s specifics, and there hasn’t been any such encouraging message yet. The tour is quickly approaching, therefore we are attempting to communicate through our official means,” Ibrahim continued.
Regarding the specific matter of enhanced security measures, the chairman was unambiguous.
“We always make an effort to plan our events in a controlled setting and guarantee the highest levels of security.” We would strengthen security if necessary, but it will depend on the circumstances,” he stated.
What led to a poor relationship between BCB and BCCI?
Behind-the-scenes momentum is increasing, according to recent reports. The BCB is reportedly requesting bids for the digital media and television rights that will cover its domestic international calendar in 2026 and 2027. This is typically interpreted as an indication that the hosts believe India’s visit is nearly certain.
A white-ball series between Bangladesh and India is expected in August or September. Formal dates have not been announced by any board.
