Ambati Rayudu Advises Yashasvi Jaiswal to Join a New Team
Ambati Rayudu, a former batter for Chennai Super Kings and India, has advised Yashasvi Jaiswal to leave the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in order to experience a different atmosphere. This comes after Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the left-handed batter’s opening partner, enthralled the New Chandigarh crowd with a 29-ball 97 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1.
In order to escape Sooryavanshi’s shadow, Ambati Rayudu wants Jaiswal to sign with another brand. Instead of supporting Sooryavanshi, the 24-year-old is a star who can win games on his own, according to the former player turned analyst.
Ambati Rayudu was naturally asked which team the Indian batter should join after recommending that Jaiswal quit RR for better opportunities. He recommended the Mumbai Indians.
“He needs to change his team. Because he cannot just bat with the guy and be overshadowed every single time. He’s a star in his own right. If he goes to another team, he will win matches on his own. He needs that space and that platform. Because this guy will keep overshadowing people, it has to be a senior partner alongside him who can deal with it and be happy for him. Be happy for what is happening and not compete with the non-striker. Mumbai Indians is a good team for Jaiswal,” Ambati Rayudu.
On paper, Ambati Rayudu recommendation that Jaiswal join MI makes logical.
The Mumbai-based team will be looking for an opener who may take over as their long-term captain when Rohit Sharma turns 40 next year. The five-time champions had a terrible 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season as well, placing ninth with eight points.
Jaiswal has had a respectable season, scoring 426 runs at an average of 32.76 while striking at 153.23. But with 680 runs at an incredible strike rate of 242.85, his opening partner Sooryavanshi is currently atop the Orange Cap standings.
