Tony de Zorzi Targets Winning Start

Tony de Zorzi has transferred to the Super Giants of Durban following an exceptional performance in the Season 3 Qualifier. At Centurion, the South African batter demonstrated his capacity to perform in high-pressure situations by scoring a match-winning 78 for Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

He relocates to Durban as the franchise preparations for the 2027 campaign, following a fifth-place finish in the previous season.

Tony de Zorzi will collaborate with captain Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, Jos Buttler, Sunil Narine, and Devon Conway to pursue their inaugural SA20 championship.

The start of a 10-match league stage that culminates in the knockouts is marked by the opening match against Pretoria Capitals on January 19, 2027. De Zorzi discussed the significance of a strong start to the tournament with SA20.

Tony de Zorzi has scored 189 runs, including one half-century, in 11 games during the SA20 tournament.

The left-handed batter will be utilising his extensive international experience to manage his franchise in the fifth edition of the league, showcasing his strength.

Super Giants’ strategy is influenced by local expertise and centurion conditions.

The advantage of having a captain who is well-versed in the intricacies of the venue is emphasised by Aiden Markram’s record at Centurion. Markram has amassed 783 runs in 25 innings of T20 cricket at the venue, with an average of 43.5 and a strike rate of 143.4.

His SA20 record at Centurion is even more remarkable, boasting a strike rate of 150 and an average of 55.5. De Zorzi and his colleagues will rely on Markram’s experience as they prepare for their campaign opener, as evidenced by these statistics.
