Shoriful Islam’s Fitness Update Ahead of Australia vs Bangladesh Second Test
Bangladesh fast bowler Shoriful Islam is available for selection in the series-deciding second Test against Australia in Mackay. The cricketer recently missed Bangladesh’s first match of the series in Darwin due to an injury worry.
As Shoriful returns to the national squad after passing the fitness test, the 25-year-old has issued an injury and rehabilitation report ahead of the tour’s key second encounter.
Shoriful Islam has no regrets about missing Bangladesh’s historic Test victory over Australia at the Marrara Oval in Darwin this weekend. Furthermore, the cricketer is relieved that he had an injury hiatus before rejoining the national team.
According to Shoriful, the injury hiatus motivated him to rest during his rehabilitation period, and he believes the break was “good” for his health.
While speaking with reporters in Mackay on Tuesday, August 18, the 25-year-old stated, “No, not unlucky. Whatever happens occurs without prior notice. Following the injury, I rested for a few days and began my rehabilitation. “I believe it was good for my body.”
Shoriful Islam is also eager to face Australia in Bangladesh’s forthcoming series-deciding second Test.
He continued, “It feels great. I’ll attempt to carry this forward. I’m always ready. Let us see if it is in my destiny, In Sha Allah (to play the match).”
Shoriful Islam targets a historic series triumph for Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh fast bowler has now set his sights on winning a historic Test series on Australian soil. Shoriful voiced confidence in Bangladesh’s chances as the team prepared to face Pat Cummins and Co. in the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.
He replied, “Of course. Which team would not want to win a series? We also hope to win the series. Insha Allah, we shall try.”
What is Shoriful Islam’s record in Test Cricket?
Shoriful has only played 13 Tests for Bangladesh in his career. The cricketer has 27 wickets in the process, with an expensive bowling average of 36.03.
He played the final of the 13 Tests in May of this year, against Pakistan in Sylhet, which decided the series. The 25-year-old recently played an ODI series in Zimbabwe before suffering an injury that kept him out of the first half of the Australian tour.
Bangladesh on the brink of history
Bangladesh, aided by fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, and ‘Player of the Match’ Hasan Mahmud, defeated Australia by nine wickets in Darwin to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
The result marked Bangladesh’s first Test victory on Australian soil, with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto calling it their greatest cricketing triumph to date.
Shoriful Islam’s return ahead of the decider will only bolster Bangladesh’s all-fired pace attack in Mackay. If Bangladesh wins or draws the upcoming second Test, they will become only the second Asian team, after India, to win a Test series in Australia.
