Sadagoppan Ramesh links Sanju Samson to Agarkar’s rise

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and his staff, along with former India opener Sadagoppan Ramesh, protested Sanju Samson’s removal from the team for the three-match Twenty20 International series against Zimbabwe later this year.

For the second Twenty20 International in India’s current five-match series against England, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi replaced Samson in the starting lineup. Prabhsimran Singh took the spot of the wicketkeeper-batter in India’s T20 team for the trip to Zimbabwe.

Sadagoppan Ramesh claims that Samson has a significant influence in Agarkar’s ongoing position as top selector.

Since Samson earned Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup and helped India win the prized trophy, Agarkar received a contract extension, according to the former cricket player who is now an expert: “The Agarkar, who dropped Samson, is in an extension period himself.” The T20 World Cup victory extended his contract, which was set to expire in June.

And Sanju was a key factor in that triumph. Agarkar has been a selection for a long time because of Sanju Samson. In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Ramesh stated, “It is incredibly cruel to drop someone three matches after he was Player of the Tournament in a World Cup.”

Before India’s trip to the UK, Sanju Samson proved his domination in the T20 World Cup by scoring 97*, 89, and 89 against the West Indies in a simulated quarterfinal, England in the semi-final, and New Zealand in the final. After Samson’s final three scores of 5, 0, and 1 in the two Twenty20 Internationals against Ireland and the series opener against England, Sadagoppan Ramesh questioned how his heroics in the T20 World Cup were forgotten.

“He had the opportunity to complete his century in the semifinal and final,” he said. However, he played for the team and left without considering self-serving goals. According to Ramesh (from the previously mentioned source), “such team-players should be the first ones backed.”
