Ramiz Raja Warns Pakistan Team After Losing Many Fans Ahead of Lord’s Test
Ramiz Raja, the PCB chairman from September 13, 2021 to December 21, 2022, voiced considerable concern about the impact of Pakistan’s poor performance on their fan base.
Ramiz Raja , who appeared on a cricket podcast alongside former England captains Alastair Cook and Michael Vaughan, underlined the team’s growing separation with its fans.
Pakistan will meet England in the second Test at Lord’s on August 27-31, following a crushing defeat in the first match in Leeds. The squad lost the first Test by an innings and 103 runs, prompting strong condemnation from past authorities and game spectators.
Ramiz Raja is concerned about Pakistan’s decreasing fan base.
Ramiz Raja judgement echoed a larger trend of diminishing interest among Pakistan supporters during the current series. Cook and Vaughan, both former England captains, reported a noticeable decrease in Pakistani fan participation, with fewer supporters demanding autographs than on prior Pakistan tours. This visible proof of the team’s declining popularity emphasised the importance of Raja’s warning.
Babar Azam, who was ruled out of the first Test owing to a right hand injury on August 18, has subsequently been declared fit and is expected to lead the side at Lord’s. The team sought to respond to Leeds’ defeat by giving their fans reasons to remain optimistic about the team.
