Nitish Kumar Availability in Doubt for Sri Lanka Test Series
India has suffered a big blow ahead of their forthcoming two-match Test series with Sri Lanka. According to sources, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is uncertain for the next IND-SL Test series.
The youthful all-rounder is currently healing from a left quadriceps injury, and despite making steady progress in rehabilitation, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is unlikely to hurry him back into the longest format.
Nitish Kumar Reddy felt difficulty while bowling in the first ODI against Afghanistan at Dharamsala. Despite being rested for the second ODI, he returned for the third match in Chennai, where the workload exacerbated his injury.
The first Test of India’s two-match series versus Sri Lanka will take place at the Galle International Cricket Stadium in Galle from August 15 to August 19.
The second and final Test will take held from August 23 to August 27 at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo.
Will Nitish Kumar Reddy Play in the IND versus SL Tests?
According to Cricbuzz, Nitish Kumar Reddy is unlikely to be selected for India’s forthcoming Test series in Sri Lanka.
The all-rounder, who was part of India’s squad for the New Chandigarh Test against Afghanistan in June, has been recovering from a quadriceps injury at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
However, according to the same reports, Reddy has begun bowling during his rehabilitation, but the BCCI considers the two-Test series has come too soon for him, and the management does not want to compromise his fitness.
It is important to note that India’s squad for the Sri Lanka series is set to be announced on Tuesday, July 28, with the selection meeting likely taking place online.

It is worth mentioning that Nitish Kumar Reddy is doubtful for the Sri Lanka Test, but there is a chance he will recover and be fully fit before the West Indies trip of India in 2026. The West Indies tour included three ODIs and five T20Is.
