Naman Dhir Opens Up on ODI Dream After Receiving Maiden Call-Up

Among the candidates was Naman Dhir, who received his first ODI call-up following an exceptional domestic performance.

On September 16, 2026, the BCCI announced a 15-member ODI squad for a three-match series that is scheduled to take place in Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, and New Chandigarh. Shubman Gill served as captain, while Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and KL Rahul served as vice-captains.

Naman Dhir , who is 26 years old, has received recognition for his recent performances in the domestic and T20 leagues. The batsman was selected for a middle-order position in the squad, which also included Auqib Nabi, who received his first ODI call-up. Nabi’s selection was a testament to his outstanding county performances.

Naman Dhir recent performance in the domestic T20 tournament provided a compelling argument for his inclusion. He guided the Amritsar Soormas to the championship, which they secured by defeating the Ludhiana Lions in the final on September 13.

Naman Dhir was the top run-scorer, scoring 655 runs in 10 innings at an average of 72.78 and a strike rate of 217.61. His innings included two fifties and one century.

In addition to being named Player of the Tournament, he also maintained an economy rate of 9.41 while claiming seven wickets in nine innings with the ball.

Dhir’s credentials were further bolstered by his List A record, which he established in December 2024. He has amassed 351 runs in 14 games, with an average of 39.00 and a strike rate of 106.36.

He has also achieved four fifties. He has also taken seven wickets in the format, showcasing his value as a middle-order batter through his efficient off-spin bowling.
