Nahid Rana Misses T20I Decider Due to Injury, Races Against Time for Australia Series
Due to a side strain, Bangladeshi speed wonder Nahid Rana is expected to miss the T20I series final against Zimbabwe on July 19.
Nahid Rana participation at the beginning of their Test tour of Australia next month is seriously doubtful due to his injury, which is predicted to keep him out of action for two to three weeks. He was hurt against Zimbabwe in the second Twenty20 International.
After bowling 2.3 overs in the second game and finishing with statistics of 1-15, Nahid Rana, who had a career-best T20I performance in the series opener (4-26), departed the field.
“He (Rana) is certainly missing the third T20I against Zimbabwe and we feel the side strain will take at least two to three weeks to recover,” a member of the national selection panel told Cricbuzz on Saturday, July 18, confirming the development and adding that they are keeping their fingers crossed and waiting for the scan report, which will give a clear idea about the severity of his injury.
We have some time before the first Test against Australia, so we are keeping our fingers crossed as we wait for the scan report,” he stated.
We’re waiting to find out how serious his injury is and how many days it will take him to heal because the way he is bowling right now, losing him to the Australia tour would be devastating,” he continued.
Nahid Rana is reportedly running out of time to prepare for the first Test match against Australia, which is set for August 13 in Darwin.
The national selectors and Bangladesh Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto met on Saturday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium to talk about getting ready for the Australia series.
Since Nahid Rana has become an important part of Bangladesh’s speed attack in recent years, it has been revealed that his availability in Australia has been a matter of discussion from the start.
The second Test will begin on August 22 in Mackay, following the series opener in Darwin.
