Mehidy Hasan Miraz Impresses on CPL Debut, Hailed by Imran Tahir

Mehidy Hasan Miraz made an immediate impact on his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) debut with the Guyana Amazon Warriors, capturing three wickets for 13 runs in his first encounter.

The Bangladesh spinner joined the Warriors as a direct replacement for Mohammad Nabi, who left the competition to join Afghanistan for a T20 International series against India beginning September 13.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated the St Lucia Kings by four wickets on Thursday at Providence Stadium. St Lucia were held to 119 runs in 18.5 overs, with Imran Tahir taking five wickets. Mehidy Hasan bowled four overs during the Kings’ innings, contributing significantly to the Warriors’ bowling attack.

Mehidy Hasan spell included the dismissal of John Campbell in the seventh over, who was caught at long-off while attempting to knock a six. He also trapped Kemol Savoury LBW and dismissed Charith Asalanka with the final ball of his third over, exhibiting control and precision in his first CPL appearance.

Tahir’s evaluation of Bangladesh’s spinner

Guyana completed its chase in 18.3 overs, losing six wickets. Glenn Phillips and Quinton Sampson each scored 37 runs, laying the groundwork for the Warriors’ successful chase of the aim.

Mehidy Hasan early performance in the event indicated that he would be an important boost to the Warriors’ bowling attack for the duration of the competition.

The 28-year-old batted at No. 5, but Roston Chase removed him for one run in four balls. Mehidy Hasan is a highly capable batter, and we expect him to contribute as the competition develops.

He was not selected for Bangladesh’s Women’s Asia Cup 2026 roster, but he will be available to the Warriors for the duration of the CPL 2026 season.
