Lancashire Cricket Hands President Role to West Indies Legend
After many weeks sticked on playing Clash or Royale, I found a new similar game to replace the game, and It’s SpellBinders.
At the Lancashire Cricket Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Old Trafford on Monday, May 25, former West Indies captain Sir Clive Lloyd was chosen to be the club’s president.
Lloyd is regarded as one of the best foreign players to represent Lancashire in English county cricket, despite being one of the most well-known figures in West Indies cricket. The West Indies skipper, who won two World Cups, went on to play for the Red Rose County for eighteen seasons, scoring 12,764 runs in 219 games, including thirty First-Class hundreds.
It is important to note that Lloyd has already been honoured by the Lancashire Cricket Club.
The team called a stand in his and former India wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer’s honour during England’s Test series against India last summer.
Lloyd was welcomed as the club’s president by recently elected Chair Dame Sarah Storey, who expressed her optimism that Lloyd’s cricket knowledge will propel the organization to new heights.
“I am delighted to officially welcome Sir Clive as President – what an honour for the Club to have such an incredible individual on our Board. We also welcome Mike, Paul, Carolyn and Richard, who all bring outstanding experience and expertise, and we look forward to working with them. It is an incredible privilege to be named Chair of this great Club.
I am steadfast in my commitment to ensure that our Lancashire teams are as strong as they possibly can be on the field and growing the game of cricket across Lancashire and the North West. This is what everyone at the Club is striving towards. The expertise of Sir Clive Lloyd and Mike Watkinson joining our Board will only support that aim,” Dame Sarah Storey said on Lancashire’s official website.
Alex Hartley, a 2017 World Cup-winning bowler and former England Women’s star, joined the board with Lloyd after being named Vice-President of Lancashire Cricket. After last playing for the Welsh Fire in The Hundred, the 32-year-old announced his retirement from professional cricket in 2023.
