Kuldeep Yadav Signs With Yorkshire for County Season

Kuldeep Yadav is set for his first county stint with Yorkshire, where he will play five 50-over matches in the One-Day Cup between July 24 and August 2, before returning in September for the final three County Championship matches of the season.

His two-part stint will come before and after India’s two-Test tour of Sri Lanka in August, which he is expected to participate in.

Kuldeep Yadav did not play in any of the eleven white-ball games on the Ireland and England tour, which finished with the last one-day international at Lord’s last Sunday.

India’s decision to rest Kuldeep, despite an injury to spin allrounder Washington Sundar, sparked concerns.”I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of playing in English conditions, and after speaking with the management, I was very excited to join the team,” Kuldeep said in a release. “I’m looking forward to making a positive contribution during my time at Headingley.”

Kuldeep Yadav has been a member of three England tours and has only played one red-ball match in the country, the Lord’s Test in 2018, in which he bowled nine overs.

He last played in a one-off Test against Afghanistan in June and has 79 wickets in 18 Tests, with an average of 22.35. His ODI record is more impressive: 194 wickets in 121 games, with a best of 6 for 25.

He has been a member of two T20 World Cup winning squads.”Kuldeep is an accomplished, international-caliber player who will add tremendous strength to our lineup for these blocks of fixtures,” said Yorkshire’s General Manager, Gavin Hamilton.

“Given the dry summer we’ve had, we expect spin to play a significant role in the final stages of the season. Kuldeep’s left-arm wristspin adds another dimension to the game, and he brings a wealth of high-level experience.”

Kuldeep is the second current Indian spinner to compete in the event this season. Manav Suthar, a left-arm spinner who made his debut against Afghanistan in June and was named Player of the Match, is currently playing Warwickshire.

Kuldeep will become the fifth Indian to represent Yorkshire when he makes his debut against Glamorgan on Friday, following Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Mayank Agarwal. Ruturaj Gaikwad had signed with Yorkshire in 2025 but withdrew for personal reasons.
