Kaif Criticises BCCI’s Handling of Indian Players’ Injuries

Mohammad Kaif, a former India batter, has expressed deep worry over the BCCI’s handling of player injuries, citing recent roster changes and game results as evidence of structural difficulties.

According to Kaif, the absence of key players from previous games, as well as the present vacancy in the Center of Excellence’s medical leadership, have all contributed to India’s injury crisis.

“We take injuries too lightly. Bumrah did not play at Lord’s, and we allowed 387 runs. “That was a critical ODI.” Kaif mentioned this on his YouTube channel.

“The series was locked at 1-1, it was the third and final match, and we conceded 387. So I believe this needs to be worked on. “Everyone involved must sit down, devote their full energy and focus to finding a solution,” he said.

Kaif mentioned VVS Laxman’s statement regarding the BCCI’s search for medical professionals, stating that they sought multiple individuals. Those details were being worked out, but at the last minute, they declined. So what I’m trying to convey is that whatever is going on needs to be addressed.” Kaif added.

Since Nitin Patel’s resignation in March 2025, the Center of Excellence has been without a permanent Head of Sports Science and Medicine. Dhananjay Kaushik, a senior physiotherapist, is in head of the department.

I’m amazed because of how much we pay. We provide such good contracts. If someone comes to work here, they will undoubtedly make a lot of money. “They are very well compensated,” he concluded.

A lot of Indian players are now battling infirmities ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka, which begins on August 15. While Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the Test series, Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Akash Deep are recovering from various injuries.
