Jemimah Rodrigues Wants to Win the Inaugural Champions Trophy

Jemimah Rodrigues has her sights set on the inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy, which will be held in Sri Lanka from February 14-28, 2027.

This goal comes after India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final at Navi Mumbai in November 2025, earning their first Women’s ODI World Cup victory. Rodrigues, who scored an unbeaten 127 against Australia in the semifinals, had a significant role in the victory.

Rodrigues considered India’s recent achievements and expressed her desire to add another big trophy to the cabinet. She emphasised how top-level achievement shapes the team’s viewpoint and desire for additional competitions.

“We’ve had success before, and we know what it’s like to be at the top. The more you try it, the more you want to be there. So, I believe our team is striving toward that, and the Champions Trophy will be extremely special,” Jemimah Rodrigues stated on JioHotstar’s ‘Follow the Blues’.

Managing injuries while aiming for major tournaments

Jemimah Rodrigues ‘ top priority right now is to recover from a hamstring injury sustained while playing for Southern Brave in The Hundred. After the injury, she was unable to compete for the remainder of the tournament.

Over her six innings in the competition, she scored 143 runs at an average of 35.75 and a strike rate of 131.19. Charli Knott from Australia was brought in to fill her position.

Due to the hamstring injury, her availability for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup, which begins on August 28 and puts India against Thailand on August 30, is uncertain. Her participation in the Champions Trophy and Asia Cup later this year will be heavily dependent on how swiftly she recovers.
