In reaction to constant criticism of the team’s Test cricket performance, Harbhajan Singh has defended Shubman Gill as India’s ideal captain and lauded Gautam Gambhir’s coaching method. He is a great individual. He has an excellent understanding of how the game should be played. He is someone who will accept defeat if it means winning a match. Harbhajan stated that if a side opts for a draw, he will most likely decline.
Gill’s experience and potential as captain
Shubman Gill will be India’s Test and One-Day International captain in August 2026. India’s ODI sides have lost series to Australia, New Zealand, and England under Gill’s leadership.
Although the overall results were inconsistent, Gill demonstrated some competitive attempts in a 2-2 draw in an ODI series in England the previous year.
