Geoffrey Boycott Reveals Ravindra Jadeja as His Favourite

Geoffrey Boycott, the legendary English cricketer, has declared Ravindra Jadeja his favourite current cricketer. When asked to select from modern cricket’s finest players, the great England batter chose this option, overlooking several of the game’s biggest names in the process.

On the Stick to Cricket podcast, Michael Vaughan asked Geoffrey Boycott a question and suggested four batting greats as possible answers. Boycott, however, chose to ignore their advice in favour of Indian all-rounder Jadeja.

Why Geoffrey Boycott choose Jadeja over the Fab Four

Geoffrey Boycott  personal connection with Jadeja extends beyond admiration for his cricketing ability. The former England opener met the Indian all-rounder for the first time on a visit to India in 2025, and the encounter made an indelible mark on him.

Geoffrey Boycott opinion of Jadeja goes beyond his technical talents to include his personality and demeanour. The legendary batter sees the Indian cricketer as a whole package, combining skill and personality.

Jadeja reaches elite Test cricket milestone.

Jadeja’s all-round performance in Test cricket has been extraordinary, earning Boycott’s appreciation. During the recent Sri Lanka series, the Indian all-rounder became only the fourth player and the second Indian to score 4,000 runs and 350 wickets in Tests.

He joined a select group that includes Ian Botham, Daniel Vettori, and Kapil Dev. In 91 Test matches, Jadeja has scored 4,160 runs, including six hundreds, and taken 356 wickets.

He also made history during the two-match series against Sri Lanka, becoming the first Indian to play 50 WTC matches.
