Fakhar Zaman Records Back-To-Back Hundreds, Ends Four-Year List A Wicket Drought
Fakhar Zaman hit 115 runs off 105 balls, including seven fours and four sixes, to help Pakistan Greens upset Pakistan Gold by 128 runs in the National Champions Cup on August 14. Pakistan Greens scored 314 runs, while Pakistan Gold was bowled out for 186 in 37 overs.
Aside with his century, Fakhar removed Kamran Ghulam with left-arm spin, earning his first List A wicket in over four years. He had two catches in the game and was named Player of the Match for his overall performance.
This was Fakhar’s second straight century in the event. He had scored 123 runs against the Pakistan Whites in the previous encounter on August 11, 2026, when the Pakistan Greens successfully chased down 277.
Fakhar was also selected Player of the Match for that game. In two National Champions Cup matches, he has scored 238 runs. Omair Yousuf scored 74 runs while Shadab Khan, who captains Pakistan Greens, added 61 runs in the victory over Pakistan Gold.
Why did Fakhar Zaman bowl against Pakistan Gold?
Fakhar had previously bowled four wicketless overs for 11 runs against Pakistan Whites on August 11, 2026, before eventually breaking thru against Pakistan Gold.
His left-arm spin removal of Ghulam marked his first List A wicket since March 2022, when he dismissed Haider Ali for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against Northern Pakistan in the Pakistan Cup.
He playfully lauded skipper Shadab for his bowling performances during the game.In 2018, Shadab Khan stated, “Whenever I become captain, I will bowl you overs.” So the credit for my bowling belongs to Shadab Khan,” Fakhar explained.
How does Fakhar Zaman’s List A bowling record look like?
Fakhar Zaman has taken 22 wickets in 43 List A innings. His most famous bowling performance came in 2016, when he got five wickets against the England Lions.
His wicket against Ghulam closed a more than four-year gap in his List A wicket column, the last entry dating back to March 2022. The dismissal lent a bowling dimension to an already strong individual performance in the National Champions Cup.
