David Hussey Resigns from Victoria Coaching Position

David Hussey, a former limited-overs batsman for Australia, resigned from his position as head of men’s cricket at Victoria to work for a new international company called Cricket Victoria (CV), which will launch in the upcoming weeks.

After leaving his position as head coach of the Melbourne Stars in the BBL, Hussey, was appointed in August 2022 to oversee the men’s program and participate in selection.

David Hussey, has played for Victoria in 87 Sheffield Shield games, winning three Shield titles and captaining his state 21 times.

During Hussey’s tenure, Victoria made two Shield finals in 2022–2023 and 2025–2026, as well as a One-Cup Final in 2024–2025. Despite not winning any trophies, he oversaw a contract list build that placed a strong emphasis on the development of native Victorian players.

“David Hussey, influence on the organisation and the broader Victorian cricket community is immeasurable,” said CV general manager of cricket performance Graham Manou, praising Hussey’s commitment to the state program. “Through his passion for the game, commitment to excellence and investment in people, David has helped strengthen the foundations of our male high-performance program while leaving a lasting legacy across Victorian cricket.”

Following a third Shield final appearance in five seasons, Victoria re-signed coach Chris Rogers for an additional two seasons.
