Brandon King, Greaves Added To West Indies ODI Squad

Brandon King, an opener, and Justin Greaves, an all-rounder, have been incorporated into the West Indies squad to provide backup for John Campbell and Roston Chase in the fourth and fifth One-Day Internationals against New Zealand.

Campbell was removed from the field during the Third ODI in Guyana, after he collapsed grasping his left hamstring shortly after completing a risky single. He was unable to stand and was transported off the pitch on a stretcher.

He is scheduled to undergo scans to evaluate the injury, which will prevent him from participating in the final two games of the series. Chase sustained a laceration and contusion to his right index finger during the second Test against Sri Lanka, rendering him unable to participate in the series.

Greaves was previously excluded from the squad due to a back injury that necessitated him to miss the first three games.

In order to provide backup for Greaves, batsman Shimron Hetmyer was included in the roster. Hetmyer even played in the third ODI and is expected to remain in the squad for the duration of the series.

Khary Pierre, a left-arm spinner, is also expected to return to his homeland after participating in the first three games. Shamar Springer, an all-rounder who was a member of the 15-member squad, had previously withdrew from the team due to the passing of his mother.

The Windies are currently trailing 2-1 as the series transitions from Guyana to Barbados, where the final two games will be contested on July 19 and 21, respectively.

The Windies were dismissed for 140 by Jayden Lennox, the Kiwi left-arm spinner, who followed up his five-wicket haul in the second ODI with four wickets. The Windies emerged victorious by seven wickets in the initial game, and the visitors were able to comfortably reduce the total to take a 2-1 lead.
