Abhishek Nayar Praises Shubman Gill’s Outstanding Form

Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar heaped admiration on Shubman Gill after the captain’s dominant performance in the first ODI against England at Edgbaston. On Tuesday, July 14, Gill led India to victory with an unbeaten 80 off 75 balls before retiring in the 26th over due to a hamstring injury.

With six wickets remaining and 4.4 overs remaining, India chased down a target of 259 courtesy to the remarkable half-century, earning the touring side their first victory on a difficult UK tour.

It was their first victory after losing the T20 series against England 4-0 and Ireland 2-0, respectively, giving India a boost of confidence heading into the series finale.

“I was reminded of the time when Virat Kohli joined the team and achieved his purple patch.” It seems that Virat Kohli would score runs anytime he batted. According to Abhishek Nayar of JioStar, Shubman Gill appears faultless and does not struggle with fast bowling or seams.

Abhishek Nayar is charmed to Gill’s unflappable personality.

The experienced coach praised the India opener’s calm approach throughout his innings. Despite the quick removal of key players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Gill did not appear to be under any pressure.

“Rohit Sharma was also experiencing issues, but you never saw Shubman Gill under pressure. You never saw Shubman out of position, whether he was spinning or running.

He didn’t get that hundred due to an injury or cramp, but he looks amazing. “Looks like a person who is possessed and in a good position as a cricketer and captain,” Abhishek Nayar remarked.

Gill’s early departure prompted concerns about his availability for the second ODI in Cardiff on Thursday. Abhishek Nayar outlined damage management options based on injury type.

Was it cramps or a pull? If there is a tension, recovery becomes difficult because one-and-a-half days is insufficient. If you only have cramping, electrolytes can help. You put in the fluids. If possible, consider getting an IV. “There are many things you can do,” he said.

Shubman Gill, who retired owing to a cramp at Edgbaston, is expected to recover, giving India optimism for the upcoming encounter against Cardiff.
