Virender Sehwag’s Fond Birthday Wish for MS Dhoni
Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag sent a heartfelt birthday greeting to former captain and seasoned wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni on July 7.
Virender Sehwag shared a heartfelt message wishing his former captain a happy 45th birthday, along with a carousel of pictures showcasing moments between the two former India greats. He compared the legendary wicketkeeper-batter to a folktale from Kerala, a beautiful state in India, about a waterfall.
“A waterfall called Dhoni is located deep within a forest in Palakkad, Kerala. You need a guide because the path is challenging and you can’t get there straight. Finally, you get a glimpse of it after a three-hour walk. And when will you notice it? On the outside, it seems calm, but on the inside, it is scorching. The water appears calm at first, but as you go closer, you see how strong it really is.Regarding it, the Kerala Forest Department has a rule that states, “The water appears calm.” However, it isn’t.
I wonder if that regulation was intended for “No. 7” or the waterfall. And even before Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born, this location—this Dhoni in Kerala—existed. Nature seems to have known all along. that someone would show up. that this is exactly how it would occur. That one would find it—after a tough journey—in a completely unexpected place. And once you’ve found it, it’s impossible to forget.

As the only skipper in history to win all three white-ball ICC trophies—the Champions Trophy in 2013, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the T20 World Cup in 2007—Dhoni has built a name for himself as one of the most iconic players.
He has amassed more over 16,000 runs while appearing in more than 500 international matches for India in various formats. His final international game was against New Zealand in the 2019 Cricket World Cup semifinal, where he achieved a courageous fifty from seventy-two balls. In 2004, he made his debut. In 2020, he declared that he will no longer play international cricket.
In the IPL, he led the Chennai Super Kings twice, from 2008 to 2015 and from 2018 to 2023. His career there was similarly amazing. With 5,439 runs in 278 games, he has been one of the league’s most productive hitters.
The squad has won five titles under his guidance, which is a joint record for the competition. Despite not playing a single game in the 2026 season owing to a calf injury, he is still a member of the team and makes appearances.
