Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Showcases Why Opportunity Meets Talent in IPL
Arun Dhumal, the current chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has given the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Indian men’s team dressing room some firm counsel about how to handle adolescent star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
With a remarkable strike rate of 232.27 and 583 runs at an average of 41.64, the left-hander has been in outstanding form thus far in IPL 2026 for the inaugural champions. He is a major factor in RR’s postseason success this year.
Given Vaibhav’s youth, Dhumal believes that the relevant authorities, such as the BCCI and RR, ought to make an effort to concentrate on facets of his character other than cricket.
“I feel the BCCI and the franchise would need to handhold him in terms of showing him the right way so that his temperament stays intact. Because sport is not only about physical skill, it is also about mental toughness. And definitely, we will do our bit to make sure that the kind of skill set he has allows him to perform for India for many, many years to come,” Dhumal told TOI.
The IPL chairman also cautioned everyone about a possible difficult period for the RR opening batsman, who is now having a lot of success. He added that BCCI will be responsible for handling the situation carefully anytime he loses his form. The seasoned administrator concluded by praising the youthful prodigy’s skill and capacity to win games.
