Dhruv Jurel Shares How He Seeks Rishabh Pant’s Advice While Batting

Dhruv Jurel and Rishabh Pant put on a 112-run partnership for India’s seventh wicket in the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Monday, August 24.

The stand propelled India from 307 for 6 to 419, moving the side closer to a first-innings total of 503 for 9 declared. Pant added 60 runs to the partnership, while Jurel finished unbeaten on 115, his second Test century, with nine fours and two sixes.

Dhruv Jurel discussed the benefits of batting beside Pant and the instruction he receives from the experienced wicketkeeper-batsman. Both players, as wicketkeepers and middle-order hitters for India, have a shared knowledge of the responsibilities of their roles in Test cricket.

Learning from Pant’s experience and style.

Dhruv Jurel emphasised how Test cricket requires various attitudes from players and how watching Pant bat provides great insight.

The younger wicketkeeper-batsman said that he can’t mimic Pant’s style, which has evolved over years of international cricket. Instead, Dhruv Jurel focuses on determining which bowlers to attack and which spells to play carefully, topics he frequently discusses with Pant while at the crease.

Sri Lanka concluded Day 2 on 8/2, with Prasidh Krishna and Manav Suthar dismissing Lahiru Udara and Prabath Jayasuriya, respectively.
