Mohammad Amir to Face IPL Teams in The Hundred

Mohammad Amir to Face IPL Teams in The Hundred

In the most recent developments, former Pakistani seamer Mohammad Amir also signed a contract. On July 21, eight teams will compete for the coveted title in 68 matches in the sixth edition of The Hundred. With less than two weeks until The Hundred 2026, every team is bringing in athletes to take the place of wounded stars.

The signing of Mohammad Amir by the Trent Rockets as a local player for the Hundred 2026 is a huge boost. After London Spirit, Oval Invincibles (now MI London), and Northern Superchargers (now Sunrisers Leeds), it will be Amir’s fourth side in The Hundred.

Amir’s participation in the Hundred 2026 was not originally planned. But David Payne’s ankle ailment prevented him from competing. Payne had surgery, but he won’t be well in time for The Hundred 2026 to begin.

David Payne will be replaced by fast bowler Mohammad Amir while he recovers from an ankle injury. We hope David has a speedy recovery.

Amir was reportedly going to join the Trent Rockets, but it wasn’t clear which player he would replace. For the uninitiated, the Trent Rockets delivered two blows. In addition to David Payne, Matt Henry’s injury makes him unlikely to play in the forthcoming season.

Why Is Mohammad Amir Not Taken Into Account As A Foreign Player?

The Hundred permits up to four foreign players in the starting lineup, just like the IPL. However, because the left-arm seamer was granted British citizenship a few months ago, he will be regarded as a local player.

The former Pakistani sailor had previously sought for a British passport, and his wife is British. He can now register for the IPL 2027 auction because he will play as a local.

Mohammad Amir Thinks Back on Being a Part of Nottingham

Notably, Amir had also inked a brief contract with Notts Outlaws for the balance of the 2026 Vitality Blast prior to joining the Trent Rockets. It was therefore expected that he would sign a contract with the Trent Rockets as well.

Amir has also joined the Nottingham team as a local player. The seaman with a left arm also thought about his new adventure.Amir remarked, “I’m thrilled to have joined Notts. “This club has a lot of positive reviews, and I’m excited about it.

“I’ll be doing my best to do well for this team and make this crowd happy because I have so many memories at Trent Bridge and I know that T20 is all about entertaining the people,” Amir said, as reported by ESPN.

An explanation of Muhammad Amir’s “The Hundred Career”

Amir has a poor experience while staying at The Hundred. London Spirit, Oval Invincibles (now MI London), and Northern Superchargers (now Sunrisers Leeds) were among the teams he had represented.

However, he will face sister teams controlled by the IPL, so the next season will be intriguing. For those who don’t know, four of the eight teams are now either entirely or partially owned by IPL franchises after going private.
