Gautam Gambhir’s Sincere Admission Following His Third T20I Setback
Following India’s heartbreaking 125-run defeat to England in the third Twenty20 International at Trent Bridge on Tuesday, July 7, head coach Gautam Gambhir has underlined that the squad must improve its “reading the game.”
India is already behind 2-0 in the series after the first game at Chester-le-Street was cancelled. The team has played five Twenty20 International matches since winning the World Cup in March, losing four of them.
The most recent loss was also their biggest ever in terms of run margin. Gautam Gambhir claims that since the Ireland series, when they were blanked 2-0 in a historic event, the team has struggled to assess circumstances during games.
Throughout the two Twenty20 Internationals, India has struggled to keep up with good speed, and their problems were made worse in Nottingham. Josh Tongue and Jofra Archer combined to capture seven wickets in a fierce display, bowling out the blue squad for 76.
“I think we just haven’t played well,” Gautam Gambhir said, acknowledging that the team was having a poor day and emphasising the need to increase playing tempo. After four games, you don’t turn into a horrible team.

“I’m not sure what England will attempt, but we need to continue improving our pace of play. More significantly, I believed that today was likely one of the worst days because we have scored 190 in the last two Twenty20 Internationals. So sometimes when you play a high-risk kind of game, these things might happen,” Gautam Gambhir continued.
Regarding India’s recent performance, Gautam Gambhir said, “It takes a little time when you go to reset again.”
