Priyansh Arya Says Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Takes Pressure Off Him
When asked about the advantages of sharing the crease with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Priyansh Arya believes that the teenager’s attacking intent makes things easier for whoever is at the non-striker’s end and forces opposition bowlers into a defensive stance.
As he prepares for a new challenge at the India A level, Priyansh Arya discussed what he has learned from working with Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh.
Priyansh Arya will compete in three one-day matches for India A versus Australia A. The inaugural match is planned for October 6, 2026, at the Cricket Association Puducherry Siachem Ground.
He starts the series in top form, having scored 475 runs with a strike rate of 179.24 in IPL 2025 and 364 runs with a strike rate of 211.62 in IPL 2026. In 2025, he also made a century in List A cricket against Australia A, which served as a useful reference for this task.
Why does Priyansh Arya love batting with Sooryavanshi?
During a one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka that included Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A, Arya and Sooryavanshi shared the crease. The two scored 75 runs against Afghanistan A and 132 runs against Sri Lanka A in the competition’s final. Priyansh Arya witnessed directly how Sooryavanshi’s presence affects the bowling side’s difficulty on such visits.
Sooryavanshi, along with Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, has established himself as a regular in India’s T20I team, and his success at the highest level has further added to his reputation as a match-changing opener.
What did Priyansh Arya learn from Prabhsimran Singh’s experience?
Priyansh Arya prefers Prabhsimran Singh to all other prominent players he has mentored and played with. Despite appearing in teams on multiple occasions, Singh has failed to make his international debut. However, his seven or eight years of IPL experience have earned him a recognised place in the dressing room among younger players.

Arya went on to claim that Singh actively helps him prepare for other bowlers, illustrating how much he values their connection outside of their time together in the middle.
