Ben Stokes to Open Batting on Big Bash Return

Ben Stokes has signed a one-year contract with the Adelaide Strikers for the 2026-27 Big Bash League season, which provides full availability till the finals. Adelaide Strikers beat out Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades to sign the 35-year-old.

Stokes withdrew from international cricket in June 2026. His prior Big Bash experience came from playing four games for the Melbourne Renegades in the 2014-15 season.

He has played sparingly in the shorter format since helping England win the 2022 T20 World Cup with a match-winning innings against Pakistan in Melbourne.
