Mark Wood Reveals Regret Over Perth Test Turning Point

Mark Wood, a fast bowler, was part of the all-pace attack in the opening Test in Perth on November 21, his first competitive match in nearly nine months since returning from knee surgery in March.

England lost by eight wickets in two days in Perth during the first Test of the Ashes series. The setback served as a watershed moment for the entire tour, with England eventually losing 4-1.

Mark Wood return to Test cricket followed a lengthy sabbatical. His previous Test cap came in August 2024 against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford. During the Perth Test, Wood bowled 11 overs in both innings but took no wicket.

Despite gaining clearance from a scan to start preparations, Mark Wood admitted that his readiness was doubtful.
