India Tour of Bangladesh Under Threat of Further Delay

India’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh, scheduled to begin in early September 2026, is facing yet another postponement. BCB president Tamim Iqbal said on Thursday, August 20, that the tour dates could be changed, placing further doubt on a series that has already been postponed already.

The game was originally set for August 2025 but was pushed back to September 2026. When the BCB made their formal announcement in January 2026, it confirmed a six-match schedule that included three ODIs and three T20Is split between Dhaka and Chattogram. The ODIs are scheduled for September 1, 3, and 6, 2026, followed by the T20Is on September 9, 12, and 13, 2026. At no point throughout the tour has the BCCI issued a public comment.

Tamim, who visited India earlier in August 2026 to examine the BCCI’s Center of Excellence facilities in Bengaluru, stated that both bodies are still working out the logistics, according to Cricinfo.

The Indian board’s persistent silence has left the Bangladesh Cricket Board to manage the matter essentially without a guaranteed partner.

Two overlapping difficulties have put the September 2026 deadline under pressure. The BCB has announced the Game Development Trophy, an age-group competition held at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur from August 28 to September 9, 2026. That window corresponds directly to the first four matches of the India series, which are currently planned.
