Aakash Chopra Backs India to Bat Aggressively and Declare at Galle

Former India opener Aakash Chopra has encouraged India to take an aggressive batting style on Day 4 of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle, advising that they collect between 150 and 175 runs in about 40 overs before declaring their second innings.

Day 3 ended with India leading by 178 runs in the first innings. India scored 462 in their first innings after batting first, while Sri Lanka were dismissed for 284.

Aakash Chopra main point is that India should add 178 runs to their advantage to attain a target of roughly 350, but they must do so fast given a 40% likelihood of rain on August 18 in Galle, when temperatures are projected to reach 31°C.

He specifically mentioned Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul by name, instructing both openers to change their strategy for the second innings.
