Rocky Flintoff Can Make England Team Soon: Lloyd
Rocky Flintoff achieved his first Lancashire century, 123 off 76 balls, in a One-Day Cup match against Somerset in Taunton. Flintoff scored a century off just 65 balls in an innings that included 10 fours and 7 sixes. Somerset managed 269 in reaction to Lancashire’s excellent performance, which saw the county score 443 for 6, their highest-ever List A total. Lancashire won 174 runs.
Rocky Flintoff, aged 18 years and 126 days, broke Archie MacLaren’s 136-year record to become Lancashire’s youngest first-team centurion. MacLaren held the previous record for 18 years and 256 days.
Keaton Jennings scored 156 off 127 balls as part of a 214-run partnership that included a century by Rocky Flintoff. Former England batsman David Lloyd evaluated Flintoff’s performance and potential for international cricket, stating that he can be fast-tracked.
He has everything. I believe he’s an international cricketer. He’s quite similar in his mannerisms to his father, and he certainly has a short-arm jab, pull shot, and he’s around six foot five anyway; he’s a big lad, and he can pull it away into the leg-side, very evocative of his father,” Lloyd told India Today.

Lloyd praised England’s current strategy to talent development, as well as Rocky Flintoff’s attitude. The former Lancashire star praised the young batter’s calmness as well as the national team’s track record of identifying new talent.
“He’s a wonderful guy with a good demeanour. And I believe it can actually be expedited. When you look at a player, someone has to make a decision about what criteria they will meet.
And I think England has done a terrific job in recent years of spotting potential and extending and pushing it ahead, and I believe they can do the same with Rocky Flintoff,” Lloyd said.
Record-breaking accomplishments and professional growth
Rocky Flintoff made history as Lancashire’s youngest One-Day Cup player when he joined the first team in July 2024 at the age of 16 years and 111 days.
Since then, he has progressed thru England’s age-group circuit, and against Sri Lanka, he became the youngest England Under-19 batter to score a century with 106.
He became the youngest Lions centurion and beat his father Andrew Flintoff’s record in January 2025, scoring 126 runs for the England Lions against the Cricket Australia XI in Brisbane at the age of 16 years and 291 days.
Prior to his Somerset century, Rocky Flintoff had scored 473 runs at an average of 39.41 in 15 List A innings. After sustaining a back injury in 2025, he returned this season. His first century marked a watershed moment in his early career.
