Murali Kartik Hails India’s Spin Successor

Former Indian cricketer Murali Kartik has backed Manav Suthar to succeed Ravindra Jadeja as the country’s next generation of spinners. The upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka, which begins on Saturday, will be crucial in developing India’s next generation of spin spinners.

The emergence of new talent is critical for India’s future, as Jadeja, who was born on December 6, 1988, is over thirty and nearing the conclusion of his professional career.

Murali Kartik made the statements during a talk hosted by Sony Sports Network on Wednesday.

Suthar’s performance against Afghanistan in June, where he grabbed seven wickets, was praised by the veteran spinner for his technique and consistency. He is old school, and he has a lot going for him right now.

When I was calling that game versus Afghanistan, I was ecstatic because I had never seen someone unleash the ball like that, with such regularity and ability. After a long time, we saw a bowler like that. Murali Kartik told Sony Sports Network that it may have come at a good moment for India.

As Jadeja’s career comes to an end, India must train a successor.

While appreciating the need of succession planning in India’s spin bowling unit, Murali Kartik also recognised the sensitive element of discussing Jadeja’s future.

The former spinner was open about passing over duty to the next generation, stating, “Ravindra Jadeja will punch me next time he meets me, but at the end of the day, he is on the wrong side of thirty.” He is in the twilight of his career, and we don’t know how long he will play. “From that perspective, you’re always looking to pass the baton,” Murali Kartik explained.

Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, and Saransh Jain’s performances in Galle and Colombo during the Test series in Sri Lanka will influence India’s chances of reaching the WTC final. Whether India can establish a stable foundation for their spin bowling unit in the coming years will be determined mainly by how well these spinners perform.
