Jasprit Bumrah’s Workload Management Key Ahead of 2027 WC
Jasprit Bumrah, India’s premier bowler, will miss the next two-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to a left knee injury acquired during the One Day International series against England.
Since the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the 31-year-old fast bowler has been dealing with an injury that has kept him out of ODIs for nearly two years. He played in two ODIs against England before suffering knee injuries that prevented him from playing in the title match.
Chaminda Vaas, a former Sri Lanka bowler, has expressed his views on Jasprit Bumrah absence. As India prepares for the two-match Test series, which begins on August 15 in Galle, Vaas discussed Jasprit Bumrah status in an exclusive chat with RevSportz.
“Bumrah is unquestionably the finest person on the earth right now. He has been playing a lot of cricket. He has taken part in the IPL, 50-over cricket, and Twenty20 cricket.
He performs in a unique way. He bowls a high number of overs, which can lead to injury. However, I feel India will have a strategy for the forthcoming 50-over World Cup.
In contrast to One-Day cricket, he will be a different bowler in Test cricket. However, as a fast bowler, you must follow a good recovery protocol and gradually return to the game. Vaas told RevSportz that he is without a doubt the best Test cricketer in the world right now.
Jasprit Bumrah was replaced by Auqib Nabi.
The Men’s Selection Committee chose Auqib Nabi, a fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, to replace Jasprit Bumrah in the series. Nabi, 26, obtains his first call-up to the Indian national team after an outstanding local record.
After taking 104 wickets in the previous two Ranji Trophy seasons, including 60 during Jammu & Kashmir’s championship-winning 2025-2026 season, the fast bowler rose to prominence at the national level.
