Miller, Klaasen and Allen Secure ILT20 Season 5 Deals

South Africans David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen, as well as Finn Allen of New Zealand, have been revealed as pre-auction signings for Season 5 of the DP World International League T20, with all three poised to make their tournament debuts.

Miller and Klaasen will represent the Gulf Giants, while Allen will join the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. The Dubai Capitals have recruited Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who will return to the league after a three-year absence.

All six DP World ILT20 franchises had filed their overseas pre-auction signings before the August 3 deadline, with each franchise allowed a maximum of four such signings. The Season 5 Player Auction will take place in Dubai on October 1, 2026, during which teams will add UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and other overseas players to form squads of 18 to 23 players.

Player registration for the auction closes on September 12, with submissions accepted at https://registration.ilt20.ae/. Following the auction, each franchise may add one wildcard signing.

Allen is largely regarded as one of the most destructive openers in the Twenty20 game. In 62 T20I games, the 27-year-old has scored 1663 runs, including three centuries, with a strike rate of 170.73. His 33-ball century in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final against South Africa showcased his ability to transform a game in a few of overs.

Miller joins the Gulf Giants as one of the most experienced middle-order batsmen in T20 cricket.

His 140-match T20I career for South Africa has delivered 2804 runs at an average of 33.78 and a strike rate of 141.40, making him one of the format’s most consistent finishers.

Klaasen, who joins him at Gulf Giants, has scored 1000 T20I runs for South Africa in 58 appearances. The wicketkeeper-batsman has approximately 7000 runs from roughly 300 T20 games in all tournaments and is highly regarded for his ability to dominate spin bowling.

Stoinis has been a steady member of Australia’s white-ball teams for more than a decade. In 87 T20Is, he has scored 1416 runs at an average of 30.78 and a strike rate of 146.28, while his right-arm medium pace has resulted in 53 wickets at 25.22. He was a member of Australia’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 winning squad.

The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders have also signed Jason Holder, who played for the franchise as a wildcard in Season 4, and USA batter Matthew Tromp, who has scored 385 runs in 18 T20s at an average of 29.61 and a strike rate of 150.39. Sunil Narine returns to ADKR in Season 4.

Desert Vipers, the defending champions, have kept Andries Gous and Dan Lawrence. Shimron Hetmyer, a wildcard signing for the Vipers in Season 4, returns as a pre-auction signing, while Afghanistan’s Mujeeb-ur-Rahman joins the Vipers after previously playing for the Gulf Giants and Dubai Capitals.

Noor Ahmad, who formerly played for Sharjah Warriorz and Desert Vipers, has joined the Dubai Capitals, along with Rovman Powell and Mustafizur Rahman, who are all returning.

MI Emirates has signed Sherfane Rutherford, who played nine games for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and 30 for the Desert Vipers, while Nicholas Pooran, Rashid Khan, and Romario Shepherd have all returned to the organization.

Sharjah Warriorz have signed Adam Milne, who played 12 matches for the Warriorz in Season 3, James Vince, who has 42 previous appearances for Gulf Giants, and Waqar Salamkheil, who has appeared 21 times for MI Emirates and 11 times for Dubai Capitals. Sikandar Raza has also returned to the Warriorz.

The Gulf Giants also welcome back all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai and quick bowler Blessing Muzarabani from their Season 4 team.
