Khushdil Shah has denied speculations that he is leaving Pakistan cricket, calling them fake news and completely incorrect. The all-rounder’s explanation came after a two-month-old interview surfaced on Friday, in which fellow national cricketer Abbas Afridi stated that Shah informed him that he had only about four months left in his career and that if he was not called up to the national team, he would have to leave Pakistan.

Khushdil Shah has represented the Men in Green in 15 ODIs and 38 T20Is after making his international debut in November 2019. In ODIs, he has scored 328 runs at an average of 32.80 and taken four wickets. In the shortest format, he has taken six wickets and scored 434 runs at a strike rate of 104.08.

His final outing for the Green Shirts was at the T20 Asia Cup in 2025. He appeared in one group-stage match against the United Arab Emirates and scored four runs before being dropped from the starting lineup for the remainder of the campaign.

In an Instagram post, Shah clarified that he will not be leaving Pakistan cricket, stating that serving the country is his primary goal.
