Rahane Opens Up On Stokes’ IPL Advice

Ben Stokes and Ajinkya Rahane played together for Rising Pune Supergiant in the Indian Premier League in 2017. At the February 20 auction, the team paid Rs 14.5 crores for Stokes, who joined a team that already contained Rahane, who was playing his second season.

Stokes advised Rahane on how to deal with the psychological side of the game during their time together in the IPL, particularly when it came to using social media during competitive phases.

Rahane incorporated the instructions into his daily routine, deleting all social media apps while watching the series. But no one encourages us to, and it is simply my own advice to myself.

In 2017, when we played together in the IPL, Ben Stokes advised me not to use social media. Creating a schedule helped me deal with this on my own when I was in my room.

“Just things like watching something on Netflix or another app, reading a book, chatting with family, and ironing my clothes for the next day,” Rahane explained on the Stick to Cricket podcast.

How Rahane maintains his internet image while on tour

Rahane devised a thorough plan for preserving his web presence while on tour. He can stay focused without being distracted by constant notifications and comments because he trusts his team to handle the administrative parts of social media.

“I have a team that manages everything. Whatever I want to share, I usually send them a photo, and if anything needs to be authorised, they send it to me. This was quite helpful on tours.

When you’ve done well, it’s tempting to log in to these applications and read through all of the comments. But that’s only ephemeral; what people say about you,” Rahane explained.

The batter’s method indicates a greater understanding of how outside noise might affect mental health and performance under tough cricket schedules.

Rahane has developed a technique to retain his concentration during series and contests by creating routines that keep him engaged in activities other than social media. Based on common experience playing at the highest levels of the sport, Stokes’ advice stressed the need of managing one’s environment and mentality during competitive stages.
