Sai Sudarasan Injury Concern Ahead of Tests

Sai Sudarasan Injury Concern Ahead of Tests

The focus is on Sai Sudarasan and Jasprit Bumrah, two Indian players who have been nominated to the roster but are still awaiting fitness tests. Team India has already started practicing for the Sri Lanka Tests, which begin on August 15.

The Shubman Gill-led squad will visit the Island Nation for a two-match Test series.

India will depart for Sri Lanka in the next days, and Sai and Jasprit Bumrah are trying to restore fitness in time to join the squad.

Sai Sudarasan recovers from injury and begins batting.

According to Cricbuzz, Sai Sudarasan is recovering nicely from his toe injury. Previously, the ailment was not disclosed, but the southpaw did injure his toe and is on the mend and should be ready for the first Test.

Sai Sudarasan is currently at the CoE, where doctors have yet to give him the go light to join the Indian team. However, he has resumed batting. However, it is unclear whether Sai Sudarasan will fully participate in the first test.

Everything will be obvious when India plays a three-day practice match against the local Sri Lanka XI on 7 August. If Sai Sudharsan is fit to play that game, the southpaw is set to start for India in the first Test on August 15.

Sai Sudarasan international career is not off to a good start. The southpaw has only 383 runs in 12 innings and is still hunting for his first Test century. There were rumours regarding his dismissal, but the GT opener turned things around on his most recent India A tour.

Notably, India A visited Sri Lanka A for a two-match series in June. Sai Sudharsan had a fantastic tour, scoring 332 runs in just four innings, average 110.67. He made centuries in both Tests, so India is pleased to see the 24-year-old recover from his injuries.

If Sai fails to play in the first Test, Devdutt Padikkal is ready to go. The 26-year-old played only three innings and scored 173 runs, average 57.67.

Jasprit Bumrah is nearing fitness.

The same Cricbuzz report stated that Jasprit Bumrah is healing well and will return to the side in time for the Sri Lanka Tests.
