Ryan ten Doeschate Back With KKR Coaching Staff

Ryan ten Doeschate is scheduled to rejoin the Kolkata Knight Riders’ coaching staff after leaving the Indian men’s team lately.

Notably, the series against England was ten Doeschate’s last, and he has now officially released himself of his duties with the Men in Blue, where he served as an assistant coach after the 2024 T20 World Cup under his favourite colleague, Gautam Gambhir.

If the reports are to be accepted, ten Doeschate will return to the KKR setup, where he has previously played and coached. He has frequently worked under Gambhir during his many stints in the IPL and with the Indian squad.

Gambhir, who is slated to manage the team at least until the 2027 World Cup, will continue to serve as head coach while looking for a new assistant.

According to Cricinfo, the former Netherlands captain had already informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of his departure at the conclusion of the England tour.

According to the report, the Dutch veteran will be the fielding coach for the three-time champion team, reporting to Abhishek Nayar. Notably, he was with KKR throughout all of their title-winning seasons: 2012 and 2014 as a player, and 2024 as an assistant coach.

Ten Doeschate had also spent time in the dressing room with Nayar, who had joined the team as an assistant coach before leaving a year later to become the Knight Riders’ head coach.

During his brief stint with the Indian team, the 46-year-old has seen some success. The Men in Blue won the Asia Cup and Champions Trophy in 2025, and they will defend their T20 World Cup title in 2026.

Ten Doeschate reportedly resigned from the Indian squad due to unmet promises made to him by the BCCI, where he was told he would be appointed fielding coach at the end of T. Dilip’s term, which was then extended.

Neither the BCCI nor Ten Doeschate have publicly addressed the issue, and the board will now begin its search to fill the hole left by the assistant coach’s departure.
