Bumrah Alerted Ahead of Major Test

Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the Indian Test squad for the Sri Lanka tour, having missed the one-off match against Afghanistan earlier this year. The 32-year-old played two One-Day Internationals in England before injuring his knee.

Regardless of his injuries, Bumrah is regarded as one of the best fast bowlers to have ever represented India. Nonetheless, he has been repeatedly chastised for getting wounded.

Glenn McGrath called Jasprit Bumrah a spring chicken and encourages him to improve on fitness.

Former Australian bowler Glenn McGrath, who works closely with the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai, dubbed Jasprit Bumrah “a spring chicken” – a euphemism used to describe someone who is still young.

However, the great Australian encouraged the pacer’s unconventional approach to improve his fitness and determine which format he wants to play exclusively. Furthermore, the three-time World Champion hailed the modern-day great, describing him as a classy and excellent bowler.

“Once again, it is up to him what he wants. How old is (Jasprit) Bumrah now? 31- 32? He is still very young. So he has to figure out how to live a little longer. He’s had a couple injuries, but he’s a great bowler.

Let’s see what he wants to do. That’s what it boils down to: whether he wants to concentrate on Test cricket or just play T20. It also relies on his body.

And, as I previously stated, guys who hyper-extend their arm put extra stress on that joint. So we’ll see what the future holds,” Glenn McGrath said while working for the MRF Pace Foundation.

Glenn McGrath also described himself as a “big fan of Prasidh Krishna”. The prolific seamer, who has 949 international wickets, praised the lanky Indian seamer for stepping in for Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah during the changeover phase.

“I’m a great fan of Prasidh, too. It’s always a challenge to fill the shoes of Shami and Bumrah, so there will always be a transition phase.”

Krishna, according to the former Australian fast bowler, is the whole deal, as he possesses all of the traits required for success at the highest level, including height, pace, bounce, accuracy, and aggression. Nonetheless, he chastised the 30-year-old for overdoing it and occasionally falling short.

“He’s tall, bowls in nice locations, and has that bounce and pace. It’s the entire package, really. He bowled like an enforcer, from the way he moved through the crease to the pace he used, the bounce, and the areas he covered. “He was a little short at times, but he impressed me overall,” said the former Australian fast bowler.

Bumrah has more international cricket experience than Krishna. In his decade-long career, the modern-day great has played 52 Tests, 91 One-Day Internationals, and 95 Twenty20 Internationals, taking 506 wickets at an average of 20.56 and a bowling strike rate of 33.0.

Krishna, who made his debut in 2021, has only played seven Tests, 28 ODIs, and eight T20Is, scoring 84 runs at 29.41 and a strike rate of 30.7.

Let us examine Bumrah’s numbers after he has played the same number of matches in each format as Krishna.

After eight Tests, Bumrah had 34 wickets, nine more than the Karnataka quick. In ODIs, the veteran bowler has 52 wickets in 28 matches, while Krishna has 50. Finally, Boom collected 11 wickets in his first eight Twenty20 Internationals.
