Sanju Samson Becomes Face of Kerala Cricket League 2026
Sanju Samson, an Indian batsman and wicketkeeper, has been named the Kerala Cricket League’s (KCL) 2026 Tournament Icon. The third edition of the state’s top T20 franchise competition will have the India international as its official face, according to the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA).
Sanju Samson, a Thiruvananthapuram native, has long been one of Kerala’s most prominent cricket players. He has regularly represented Kerala in local cricket, led the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and been involved with the KCL from its founding.
Samson’s enormous popularity and importance in the league were demonstrated in the previous edition when the Kochi Blue Tigers signed him for a record amount in the player auction.
However, because of previous obligations, Sanju Samson will not play in the 2026 edition.
Rather, he will assume a new job as the Tournament Icon, which will involve promoting the league, interacting with supporters, and supporting programs that help develop young cricket players around the state.
Samson’s role as the competition’s spokesperson, according to the KCA, will greatly increase the tournament’s visibility and motivate Kerala’s upcoming cricket players.
Recently, the 2026 season’s player auction took place, and all teams finalised their rosters in advance of the competition.
Before the auction, the Kochi Blue Tigers kept a number of important players, but Samson’s departure from the playing roster deprives the team of one of its most popular players from prior campaigns.
