Rohit Sharma is set to be the focal point of India’s third and final one-day international against England at Lord’s. According to earlier reports, the famed opener planned to retire from international cricket following the series. However, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia emphatically disputed the allegations, claiming they were false.

Despite Saikia’s response, retirement whispers continued to dominate headlines around the world of cricket. In a chat with reporters, Brook addressed speculation over the Indian captain’s retirement.

Prior to the series final, England captain Harry Brook was asked to comment on the rumours surrounding Rohit’s future.

“I’m not sure what has been mentioned regarding Rohit Sharma’s retirement. “He’s been a fantastic player for many years, and it’s great to see him still involved in the game,” Brook remarked during the pre-match press conference.

Despite the fact that retirement rumours have dominated the press, the right-handed hitter has yet to make an official announcement about his future.

However, speculations that the 39-year-old requested his parents to watch the third ODI at Lord’s have fanned fan speculation that this will be his final international cricket match. Despite the growing public outcry, the BCCI has maintained that the retirement charges are false.
